UCFD#1 Provides Public Service to Military Veteran

This Veteran’s Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have answered the call to protect our freedoms and defend our country.

Umatilla County Fire District #1 extends our deepest gratitude to veterans across the nation and to those right here in our own community.

Recently, UCFD#1 had the opportunity to show our appreciation to one of those local heroes, Mike Alsup. Mike and his wife, Kathy, recently reached out to the District for assistance in repairing the broken flagpole outside their home.

With Mike being drafted into service right out of high school, the flag holds profound meaning for the Alsups.

Firefighters Brody Pingree and Coldin Shopp were honored to help by manually lowering the flagpole, repairing the rope, and replacing the flag so it could once again wave proudly in front of the Alsups’ home.

This Veteran’s Day, we encourage you to thank a veteran in your life and to share their photo & story with UCFD#1 in the comments!

Thank you, veterans. Your service will never be forgotten.
