UCFD#1 Completes Extrication Training
Last week, UCFD #1 crews completed two full days of mandatory vehicle extrication training led by Lieutenant Jesse Brown, ensuring our skills are sharp and ready for some of the most technical rescues we face.
Firefighters trained on a variety of extrication methods with specialized tools, including hydraulic cutters and spreaders (commonly known as the “Jaws of Life”) and cribbing for stabilization.
The Jaws of Life are powerful hydraulic tools designed to cut, spread, and lift metal during vehicle accidents. They allow our crews to quickly and safely remove doors, roofs, and other vehicle parts to reach trapped patients. These tools are a vital part of our rescue operations, which is why regular training on best practices and procedures is crucial.
Great work to all our crews for their dedication and teamwork, and a big thank you to R.S. Davis Recycling - Hermiston Yard for supplying us with cars and space to perform this critical training!
